✈️ Why should you visit Sigiriya?

Sinigama, also known as Seenigama, is a coastal village in Sri Lanka famous for its island temple dedicated to the deity Devol, which is believed to protect seafarers and can be visited by boat.
  • Dual Temples on Land and Sea: The site has two temples. One is on the mainland. The main temple sits on a small island. Indeed, you can only reach it by boat.
  • The Devol Deity’s Unique Rituals: Locals worship the deity Devol. In addition, people come to grind chilies. This is to ask for a curse on those who have done them injustice.
  • Link to the Ramayana Epic: The site has a mythical past. According to local legend, Sugriva began his campaign against Ravana here.
