- A Building with Many Lives: The museum is located in a 17th-century building that has been used for many purposes. It was a governor’s residence, a training college, a military hospital, a post office, and more.
- Dedicated to a Colonial Legacy: The Colombo Dutch Museum is the only museum in the world specifically dedicated to commemorating the Dutch colonial period in Sri Lanka.
