Guidelines

Start Early: Aim to enter at 7:00 AM to beat the intense tropical heat and the large crowds on the narrow 1,200-step staircases. Respect the Frescoes: Photography of the ancient wall paintings is strictly forbidden to prevent light damage; guards are very strict about this. Stay Quiet Near Wasps: There are large wasp nests on the rock face; if you see “Silence” signs, keep your voice down to avoid disturbing them.
