Dress Appropriately : Wear white or light-colored modest clothing that covers shoulders and knees. Avoid bright red or black outfits, which are considered inappropriate during rituals. Barefoot Entry : You must remove shoes, slippers, and headwear before entering the sacred premises. Walk barefoot, even on hot sand. No Alcohol, Meat, or Smoking : The Kataragama area is considered extremely sacred. Do not bring or consume alcohol, meat, or tobacco products within temple grounds.
