- Originates from a Mountain Range: The falls are one of many cascades that come from a stream in the Knuckles Mountain Range. The water continues its journey to the Victoria Reservoir, which is Sri Lanka’s tallest dam.
- A Primary Teledrama Location: The waterfall became popular after being the main filming location for a famous teledrama. This show was called Ella Langa Walauwa, or “Mansion by the Fall.”
- Unique Accessibility: The falls are easily accessible from a nearby bridge. A steel staircase was built to allow visitors to climb down. This makes it one of the easiest waterfalls to visit in the area.
- Serves the Local Community: The water from the falls is very important to the local villages. It is used by villagers in Elliyadda and Araththana. It is also used in a water supply scheme for the Kundasale Electorate.
- Stays Clear of Mud: The riverbed has many rocks, grass, and plants. Consequently, the water stays clear even during rainy periods. This is due to the natural filtration and low pollution levels.
