Guidelines

Respect Lineup Etiquette: Because the main point is world-famous, it gets very crowded. Always wait your turn and avoid “dropping in” on other surfers; local beach marshals and veteran surfers are very protective of wave priority. Beware of Wild Elephants: Many surf spots like “Elephant Rock” and “Peanut Farm” are located in active wildlife corridors. Avoid walking through the scrubland at dusk or dawn, as elephants frequently cross these paths to reach the lagoons. Dress Modestly in Town: While the beach is a bohemian surf hub, the surrounding village of Pottuvil is a conservative community. Always wear a shirt or a sarong when leaving the immediate beach area or walking into town.
