- Unique ‘Y’ Shape: Puna Falls is uniquely shaped like the letter ‘Y’. This is because two separate waterfalls merge into one at the bottom.
- Formed by Two Water Sources: The waterfall is fed by two different streams. The Puna Oya supplies water to the left side, and the Pundalu Oya feeds the right side.
- Visible from a Major Road: The waterfall is easily visible from the Peradeniya – Nuwara-Eliya Route. The A5 Expressway runs very close to the falls.
- Located Amidst Tea Plantations: Puna Falls is situated in the Ramboda Pass area. Its beauty is enhanced by the surrounding evergreen tea estates.
- Tall and Majestic: Standing at about 100 meters (328 feet), it is recognized as one of the highest waterfalls in Sri Lanka. It never completely dries out, so its beauty can be enjoyed year-round.
