- Relocated from Colombo: This museum was originally located in Colombo. It was later moved to Kadugannawa. Therefore, it is the new home for these artifacts.
- Affordable and Accessible: The museum has a very low entrance fee. It is a very accessible option for many people. It is conveniently located near the Kadugannawa Railway Station.
- Memorial Collection: A memorial stamp and first-day cover were issued to celebrate the 150th anniversary. A replica steam train also operated on the day of the opening.
